MoMA NY Yankees Baseball Cap

MoMA Exclusive: This special edition design is an official version of the original New York Yankees cap that features the MoMA logo on one side, a New Era logo on the other, and the MLB (Major League Baseball) emblem on the back. This fitted baseball cap is made of polyester.

This MoMA NY Yankees Baseball Cap is inspired by the 2017–2018 MoMA exhibition Items: Is Fashion Modern? The exhibition explored the past and present—and in some cases also the future—of 111 items that have had a strong impact on history and society in the 20th and 21st centuries.

This cap design at MoMA Design Store coincided with the Museum’s exhibition Items: Is Fashion Modern?, which featured baseball caps by New Era Cap Company. In the spirit of the city where MoMA is based, we chose the New York Yankees version of this design. Items: Is Fashion Modern? features 111 iconic items and is the first fashion exhibition presented at MoMA since Bernard Rudofsky’s 1944 show Are Clothes Modern?—a title that is referenced in the Museum’s current exhibition.
