The 11” high thermoplastic resin design makes a sculptural statement on your countertop between tea times. The Plissé Electric Kettle is made by Alessi, a manufacturer with work in MoMA’s collection. Features include: Turns off automatically a few seconds after water reaches a boil. (The kettle reaches a boil in 4.5 minutes.) For safety, the kettle also turns off automatically if there is too little or no water inside.Base is thermally insulated so the kettle can be placed on any surface after water boils. Powered by standard US plug-in with 35"-long cord. Holds 57 ounces.
This Plissé appliance is produced by Alessi, an Italian company founded in 1921. The brand is famous for their everyday objects that strike a balance between aesthetics and function. Throughout the years, they have collaborated with international designers, such as Michael Graves, Alberto Meda, Achille Castiglioni and Ettore Sottsass. Two Alessi designs are represented in MoMA's collection: David Chipperfield's Piana Chair from 2010, and Philippe Starck's Ceci N'est Pas une Truelle Cake Server from 1996.
