LEGO® Ideas The Starry Night
Inspired by one of the most iconic artworks in MoMA’s collection, Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night (1899), the LEGO® Ideas The Starry Night reimagines the famous painting as a 3D depiction using 2,316 LEGO bricks. Acquired by MoMA in 1941, The Starry Night was the first artwork by Van Gogh to enter a New York museum collection, and it continues to be a visitor favorite in the Museum’s galleries.
This set was conceived by Truman Cheng, a 25-year old Hong Kong-based LEGO fan, through a submission on the LEGO Ideas platform, and has been created in conjunction with The Museum of Modern Art in New York. When developing the original concept, Truman, a PhD student, was building with LEGO bricks when he realized that stacking them together in random intervals looked like Van Gogh’s iconic brush strokes.
The LEGO Ideas The Starry Night set includes a minifigure of Vincent van Gogh, a mini easel and a mini interpretation of the painting, along with a paint brush. You can attach a platform that fits all these components with an adjustable display arm or display them separately.
LEGO Ideas The Starry Night includes an instructions booklet. This intricate set can be displayed standing or on your wall, thanks to the included hanging feature.
